About the Role
We are seeking a highly competent and safety-focused Authorised Person (AP) – Electrical (LV-HV) for a 6-month contract to support the electrical installation and commissioning of a state-of-the-art food processing facility in County Kildare. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and authorising electrical isolations, energisations, and permit-to-work processes across both Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the designated Authorised Person for LV and HV systems on-site.
• Oversee safe energisation and de-energisation procedures in line with project safety requirements.
• Manage and issue electrical permits and switching schedules for contractors and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with site Electrical Safety Rules and Statutory Regulations.
• Support the electrical construction and commissioning teams to ensure safe and timely delivery of electrical milestones.
• Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and method statement reviews as needed.
• Liaise closely with the site management team, clients, and third-party vendors.
• Maintain detailed records of electrical works, isolations, and permit activities.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
• Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Authorised Person or similar role on industrial or process plant projects.
• Strong working knowledge of LV and HV systems (up to 33kV preferred).
• Previous experience in food, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or similar process-driven construction environments.
• In-depth understanding of Safe Systems of Work and permit-to-work systems.
• Valid electrical authorisation (client or company-issued) – transferable or renewable.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Desirable:
• IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent safety training.
• Knowledge of Irish electrical regulations and standards.
• Previous experience working on live sites or commissioning phases.
